Favorite Posts for Overcoming Fear and Doubt

We all experience personal and professional fears and doubt, that’s normal. It is what we choose to do about overcoming the obstacles and challenges that makes the difference between success and disappointment. Here are three of my favorite empowering blog posts.

As a woman in business, have you ever felt overwhelmed by fear – so much so that it prevented you from doing something you wanted to do? Believe it or not, this is a common problem faced by many people daily.

Fear has the power to hold you back from taking risks, following your dreams, or becoming successful at anything you attempt to do. If you allow it to control you for long enough, it can eventually erode your quality of life and keep you locked in a prison of inactivity.

What many people fail to realize is that fear is nothing more than a conditioned response. It’s a natural reaction to a frightening or unfamiliar situation. While it is usually automatic, there are things you can do to overcome it.

woman worryAre You Doubting Yourself

To be a successful woman in business, one of the greatest success tools you can possess is a total belief in yourself and your ability to succeed and thrive.

Mark Victor Hanson, coauthor of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, said it best when he said, “An ounce of doubt and you are out.” Self-doubt begins when you do not totally believe, in both your heart and mind, that you have the right, power and ability to succeed and thrive to your full potential.

YourDictionary.com defines self-doubt as: Lack of faith or confidence in oneself. Self-doubt has the negative power to make success an emotional and physical struggle.

Call it a mindset or an attitude but the word “sales” can strike fear in the hearts of many businesswomen. As a woman in business you know that to start, grow and stay in business you must have a marketable product. You also realize that if no one is purchasing this product, your business will not be profitable.

Selling products at a profit makes complete business sense. Why then do so many enthusiastic entrepreneurial women falter when it comes to asking potential customers or clients for the sale?

Let’s take a look at belief systems. Your belief system regarding sales, selling and salespeople is tied closely to your perception of how others will react when asked to make a buying decision. Mental and emotional “truths” learned from childhood and adult experiences have formed negative and positive attitudes about selling and buying.
