It’s that time of year, “Back to School”. Retail businesses are doing their thing to let the consumers know what great deals are available for students and their families. There are sales to entice you to buy computers, school supplies, electronics small and large, and clothing which includes school uniforms.

As if that isn’t enough, you have to decide how to make Social Media work for your business. If you are like me, you are thinking, “Who has time for social media, I am too busy with life?”

Here are 3 Time-Saving Tips to Market your Business with Social Media using some of the activities you practiced in school:

1. Decide what you want to study
There are hundreds of social media platforms available. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, YouTube, the list goes on and on. Fight the urge to be everywhere at the same time. Select 2 or 3 that work best for you and master them.

2. Set your schedule
Remember your school days with a roster of classes. (Remember 3rd period lunch? It was more like brunch. Use a posting calendar to schedule when you want to send out your posts. As a part of your schedule (roster) you can schedule the time to write your post, tweets or other social media messages.

3. Be prepared for the first day of class with the right “tools” of the trade.
We all appreciate the ability to figure that math equation out manually, painstakingly showing your work. Yet and still, our day always got a little brighter when the teacher said, “You can use your calculator”! Social media tools such as hootsuite.com; socialreport.com; and sproutsocial.com to name a few give businesses the ability to schedule messages to go out automatically. They also track analytics and allow you the ability to monitor your brand all from one website.

So there you have it. Decide what you want to study. Create your schedule. Select the best tools for you. Get back to basics and before long, you will have a social media plan that works for you.
