How about combining good fiction with powerful personal development/self-discovery lessons? I’m Sharon Michaels and here are my personal top five favorite self-development fiction books of all time. #1 – The Traveler’s Gift by Andy Andrews – Of the five, this is my favorite one.

Do you enjoy reading about self-development, history, time travel and/or a just want to escape into a good book? The Traveler’s Gift; The Seven Decisions That Determine Personal Success by Andy Andrews has all that and more. There are great lessons for personal success, insights into significant historical events and a look into what it may have been like talking with inspirational historical figures. All this is blended with a well written “I can’t put this book down” story.

#2 – The Twelfth Angel by Og Mandino – Og is a wonderful storyteller sharing a story about purpose and persistence.

Have you ever been through such a powerful life changing and emotionally devastating experience that you instinctively know life will never be the same again? You begin to realize that you are at an emotional fork in the road, you’re either going to learn from the experience or end up wallowing in it. That’s exactly what happens to the main character John Harding in The Twelfth Angel – his life is facing that powerful and often frightening life-changing fork in the road.

#3 – Jonathon Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach – A story about a seagull on a mission.

In order to really “get this book” be ready to appreciate the beauty of your dreams and the power of persistence. You’ll get out of this book what you’re ready to learn at this moment in your life. If you’re at the place in life where you truly believe you can make a difference, find happiness and live a life filled with self-satisfaction – this book could very well have a powerful and emotionally uplifting impact on your life.

#4 – The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho – A best selling self-development fable for over twenty years.

Have you ever dreamt to living out your wildest dreams and then talked yourself out of it? Are you unsure about taking that leap of faith and beginning your journey to greater self-discovery? If you answered, “yes” to either question, then please read on because The Alchemist is a book you’ll want to sit back and enjoy.

#5 – The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom – Self-development lessons come in all shapes and sizes.

You never know whose life you’ll have the ability to change or positively impact by simply “knowing” them. The Five People You Meet In Heaven, weaves a story of how one man impacted the lives of so many people and yet, never realized it until he met and talked with them in heaven.

Please share with us your thoughts and insights about these five books – let us if you’ve read them. Enjoy!

I enjoyed “The Go-Giver” by Bob Burg and John David Mann. It’s a very simple book with a great message.
